Why we no longer sell the Vozol Bar 2200

Because there is no specific legal basis—or rather, because e-cigarettes were not covered by the Swiss Tobacco Products Act—nicotine-containing e-liquids and prefilled nicotine cartridges may be sold under the Cassis de Dijon principle. This principle states that, to support competitiveness, products approved in the European Economic Area may also be sold in Switzerland. The EU tobacco product regulations stipulate that nicotine-containing e-liquids may not be sold in bottles larger than 10 ml. Prefilled cartridges and disposable vapes must also not contain more than 2 ml of e-liquid. Although there is one country in the European Economic Area where this restriction does not apply, in November 2023 we were instructed to comply with EU standards, regardless of the fact that, under the Cassis de Dijon principle, these products should also be permitted for sale in Switzerland. Taking this legal situation to court would probably take longer than the finalisation of the new Swiss Tobacco Products Ordinance, which will create this issue for us anyway. In practical terms, this means that since the ruling in November 2023, we have not been allowed to import disposable vapes with more than 2 ml of liquid, although we were assured we could sell off already imported products until the end of August 2024.

Personally, we don't see any sensible reason for this restriction, other than making e-cigarettes less appealing as a way to quit tobacco. We therefore consider it consumer-unfriendly and environmentally nonsensical. If disposable vapes are limited to a maximum of 600 puffs or a 2 ml fill capacity, the result is simply more waste.

As an alternative to larger disposable vapes, new models are now available where the disposable vape itself has a 2 ml fill capacity but also includes a 10 ml bottle of e-liquid, so you still get a larger total volume overall.
