Atomizer Short: What does the message mean and how can you fix it?
The “Atomizer Short” message can appear either while you’re vaping or as soon as you fire up an atomizer. In simple terms, Atomizer Short means there’s a short circuit. The question is: does it only happen with one particular atomizer or tank, or does it happen every time? Is the contact pin pushed in, is it a software issue, or has the coil simply been fitted poorly?
If the message appears while you’re vaping, even though the device was working with this atomizer before, there are a few things you can try. Screw the atomizer onto another mod. Does everything work as normal? Then simply leave the mod alone for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, try again. If the error message comes back, unscrew the atomizer and press reset. If the device doesn’t have a reset button, try updating the firmware.
Does it work after the update? No? Then try the mod without an atomizer screwed on – what happens? Do you get the “No Atomizer Found” message or the “Atomizer Short” message? If the same error appears even then, it’s often down to the device being handled a little too roughly when the atomizer was screwed on. If you force the tank into the 510 connector with too much pressure, you can actually damage the contact pin. Another possibility is the firmware, but in that case all mods of that type would show the same error message. And the third option is the most unpleasant one: it really is a short circuit and the mod is faulty. A short circuit can be caused by inserting batteries incorrectly, using unsuitable cheap batteries, or charging incorrectly, for example with too many amps when charging from a wall socket.
With rebuildables, if the end of the wire is hanging down and touching the pin, changing the atomizer should make the message disappear. In short, there are plenty of possible reasons for this message. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to say which one applies without checking the device in person.
