Nicotine base with apple pie flavour plus cinnamon. Double apple with cinnamon is a nice combo too.
For anyone with a sweet tooth, here’s the ultimate treat: hazelnut flavour and maybe a little sweetener. Also lovely – dark chocolate and strawberry (again, add a touch of sweetener if the strawberry flavour isn’t sweet enough). Raspberry and dark chocolate always works too.
Hazelnut and milk chocolate works too – but be careful: only add sweetener if it still isn’t sweet enough after two weeks of steeping.
Then there are mixes that generations of vapers have spent ages trying to get right. Right at the top of the list is vanilla custard. No matter which vanilla flavours you try, somehow it rarely quite comes together.
By the way, there are also plenty of slightly weird flavours out there – like Gorgonzola, bacon, basil and the like. After all, the flavouring on supermarket crisps has to come from somewhere.
Really important: you’ll notice I’m not giving any percentages. Why? Because it depends on the manufacturer. Good shops usually give rough guidelines, and when you’re mixing several flavour concentrates, you’ll need to experiment, as some flavours come through stronger than others.
Also important: write down your amounts! Let your new mix steep in a warm place for two weeks, then taste and adjust. And when you adjust it, the same rule applies: write down the amount again. Shake well after adding flavour concentrate! Next week we’ll take a look at how to work with menthol crystals.
