Making the Switch II - Vaping for Beginners

Some people take one puff on an e-cigarette and switch without any real effort. Others need a few attempts. And then there are those who simply do both for a long time: vaping and smoking.
People are all different, and so are the personal strategies that work when switching. The simplest approach is to stick with e-cigarettes for three days and not reach for the cigs. By day four, a cigarette often just tastes like straw. Another option is to limit yourself to one cigarette in the morning and one in the evening, and otherwise only vape for those three days. In that case, too, the cig should already taste far less appealing by day four. The advantage of the second method is that the MAO inhibitors are still present. For many people, it may be exactly these MAO inhibitors they miss. The fact is, cigarettes calm you down and can feel relaxing—so there may be something to this theory. For those people, the “yes to cigs, but only a tiny amount” method can be a good fit.
The important thing is: don’t stress yourself out! If it doesn’t work right away, it may work later. Some people needed more than a year before it finally clicked. People are simply different. Want to do both for now? No problem either: every cig you replace with a vape instead of smoking is still the better choice.
Just don’t put pressure on yourself, and take it easy.
