Vape Draw Technique and Questions for Dampfi

How do you vape an e-cigarette properly? Well, it starts with one simple thing: you don’t “smoke” an electronic cigarette – you vape it. If you actually smoked it, as some journalists like to put it, you’d have a problem. Plastic doesn’t exactly produce much smoke; it mostly smoulders, and batteries are far too expensive to simply set on fire.

With a regular cigarette, you can take several quick puffs in a row, sometimes even quite hard. With an e-cigarette, you take one draw – and you take it slowly. On a vape device, a gentle, slightly longer draw works better than short, rapid pulls with too much force. When smoking, you need more to get the full flavour. Cigar smokers in particular will understand this: with vaporised e-liquid, you take one light draw, just a little longer.

Why? Because the e-liquid releases its flavour in your mouth straight away. If you take several frantic puffs on an e-cigarette, the tank can suddenly start leaking. Not because it would normally do that, but simply because you’re not using the device properly.

A simple way to put it is: “The lighter and longer the draw, the better the e-liquid flavour comes through.”
