Vapefly Kriemhild Tank Review: A Game Changer in Ready-Made Coil Atomizers

The Vapefly Kriemhild Tank

I was surprised as I received the packaging. With a questioning look, "really now?" a ready-made coil atomizer named Kriemhild from Vapefly? I've been winding my atomizers myself for more than 3 years, rarely reaching for ready-made vaping options. First, I stopped frowning, put aside my prejudices, and embarked on an adventure with "Kriemhild".

The packaging is familiar to me, I know it from the Brunhilde RTA and the Brunhilde MTL RTA. When you open the packaging and the view of the Kriemhild atomizer is revealed, I would describe the first impression as "ohh". If you don't know that it is a ready-made coil atomizer, you might mistake "Kriemhild" for an RTA at first glance.

What's inside?

  • 1 x Kriemhild Atomizer
  • 1 x Triple Mesh Coil (0.15ohm)
  • 1 x Single Mesh Coil (0.2ohm)
  • 1 x Replacement Glass
  • 1 x Set of Replacement Seals
  • 1 x Operating Instructions

Does Vapefly Show Us How SubOhm Works with the Kriemhild?

Come on out, Kriemhild... The developers and designers of the packaging sit at home after work, laughing their heads off, knowing that customers are cursing and ranting while fumbling with the packaging. Finally, there it is. It feels robust, massive yet beautiful. First, I pull and twist everything. Yes, it seems high-quality, that's my first impression. "Oh my goodness," slips out when I see the coils. It looks like the Kriemhild atomizer is pregnant, "oh how cute, it's going to be an RDA" or as if the creators of Milka chocolate had a hand in its development, thinking "it has to be as thick as a thumb, with whole coconuts!"

My playful nature makes me disassemble and reassemble the atomizer. The workmanship is solid, the top fill is also solid, and someone was thinking when they designed the coil replacement process. When you remove the coil from the tank, it closes. We've all been there: the atomizer is placed upside down on the table, a fresh coil is fumbled out of the package (I'll do that next time, always the same resolution), and of course, the tank topples over. At least one annoyed eye roll can be spotted. You won't miss that here. The top fill of the Vapefly Kriemhild is very clean and simple. Lift the top cap, slide it aside, fill, slide it back. It clicks, and you're done. Yes, it's 2020, and even an atomizer can have a touch of the future. Liquid is in, plenty of liquid is in. It seems as if there's a hole in the Kriemhild's tank and you're pouring into nothing.

The Kriemhild Coils

The coils seem huge, but what do the Kriemhild coils perform? Pre-moisten, insert into the tank, add liquid, and off you go.

Vapefly Kriemhild Single-Mesh Coil

50 watts and a draw... WOW, okay... second draw... it stays at WOW. The Single-Mesh was tested really extremely, 8 weeks! In the power ranges of 50 to 80 watts. I even went up to 90/95 watts occasionally. Would I do it permanently? No, but it's perfectly fine for a few draws without the coil taking damage. It was really delicious for the first two to three weeks, then it became "vapable". After four weeks, I bathed the Kriemhild coil in PG and carefully cleaned it with a "cotton swab". The result: it's doable, it's not like a fresh and new coil, but it's absolutely doable in an emergency, the taste remains acceptable. (Why PG and not water or alcohol? Simply because the cotton doesn't get hard in PG and you can actually repeat this process indefinitely.

Here, too, I start with 50 watts and increase in 5 watt increments up to 80 watts. I didn't torment this Kriemhild coil as long; after 21 days I had mercy. The taste was no longer as clear and strong as at the beginning, but again, the vapor remained tasty and very pleasant throughout the entire period. It's rare to find ready-made coil atomizers that taste this good; actually, I've never experienced this before. There was always something to complain about. Here, you could possibly criticize that the taste is very intense and the liquid tastes almost 1:1 as in the "lick test".

Conclusion

Design? I like it, simple and beautiful, but that's a matter of taste. But what is a fact is that Kriemhild convinces in terms of taste all along the line. The workmanship is top-notch, handling is excellent, and the overall impression is outstanding. For me, it is the best ready-made coil atomizer on the market, and at around CHF 50, the Vapefly Kriemhild is absolutely affordable.
