What Is a Longfill E-Liquid?
How to Mix Longfill E-Liquids
Longfill e-liquids are becoming more and more popular, so we’re steadily expanding this part of our range. To make sure you know exactly what to do with them, we’ve put together this guide for you on the Dampfi Blog.
The biggest advantage, apart from the usually very low price, is that you can choose your VG/PG ratio entirely yourself. You can also reach higher nicotine strengths than with shortfill e-liquids, because longfill bottles leave much more room to top them up. A longfill e-liquid is basically flavour concentrate in a larger bottle; you still need to dilute it with base before you can vape it.
What do you need to make a longfill ready to vape?
- Neutral base in your preferred VG/PG ratio
- Nicotine shots
- Base with nicotine already added (optional)
- A Pullshake bottle opener (optional, makes life easier)
- A free hand so you can give the e-liquid a thorough shake after mixing
Longfill e-liquids usually come in the following bottle sizes and contain these amounts of flavour concentrate:
- 60ml bottle with 10ml or 20ml flavour concentrate
- 100ml bottle with 10ml or 20ml flavour concentrate
- 120ml bottle with 10ml or 20ml flavour concentrate
Mixing a longfill e-liquid with nicotine base
Follow this link to see our selection of base that’s (almost) ready-mixed with nicotine. Once you’ve unpacked it, simply pour the included nicotine shots into the large bottle and shake it well.
You can choose from:
- 50% VG/50% PG with 3mg or 6mg nicotine
- 80% VG / 20% PG with 3mg or 6mg nicotine
Mixing a longfill e-liquid with nicotine shots
As mentioned, you’ll need 0mg base if you want to add nicotine shots to your longfill e-liquid. To hit one of the strengths shown in the table, always top up your longfill with neutral, nicotine-free base to the required final volume after adding the nicotine shots. Depending on the longfill, that’s 120ml / 100ml or 60ml.
Use this table to see how many nicotine shots you need to get your longfill e-liquid to your preferred strength. Here we only use whole nicotine shots, so 10ml per unit.
Of course, you can also calculate the exact amount you need if, for example, you want a 120ml longfill to end up at exactly 2mg. There are plenty of calculators online - this one is our favourite. Mixing with whole shots is a bit easier, though, and honestly, 0.25mg more or less doesn’t really make much difference to most people.
About me - After three years of vaping and more than two years working in sales in the Zurich and Horgen shops, it was about time for a change of scenery. Somehow, I ended up in the endless depths of the Dampfi office. That’s where, among other things, I discovered an unexpected love of writing — so from now on I’ll be bringing you plenty of informative, pointless, funny, helpful and daft posts.
