E-Liquid – Mixing Everyday Food Flavours

With any recipe, there’s one thing we need to stress: how much flavour concentrate you’ll need depends a lot on the brand you’re using. As a rule of thumb, you usually need more US concentrates than German or Italian ones. But there are exceptions! Those exceptions can even come from the very same brand. An apple flavour might be really punchy, while the chocolate from the same manufacturer is much more subtle. And finally, it always comes down to taste!

So the rule is – as we keep saying in our other mixing posts – try it, let it steep, adjust it if needed – then steep it and try it again!

Please note – the percentages are only a starting point! Your base also makes a difference. Here we’re using a traditional 70 percent PG and 30 percent VG mix!

Nutella

Nutella is made up of:

Hazelnut – use more than twice as much concentrate as milk chocolate! For example, 10 percent hazelnut and 4.5 percent milk chocolate. Depending on the concentrate brand, you may also want to add a few drops of sweetener!

But I’d only add sweetener after the flavour has steeped and only if it isn’t sweet enough for you. Many brands already make sweet hazelnut flavours!

After Eight

After Eight is a classic, of course, and it definitely has to be included! Milk chocolate 8 percent and peppermint 2 percent – if the mint is too subtle for you, you can simply add a little more after steeping.

If the chocolate concentrate isn’t sweet enough, just go back to the sweetener! But only after steeping!

Amaretto

For Amaretto, you’ll need 10 percent almond, 1 percent hazelnut and 3 percent brandy or cognac. Important – the almond should be on the bitter side! If needed, add a little sweetener after steeping!

Apple Pie

There are countless apple pie recipes, and what tastes best to you simply depends on the apple pie you remember from childhood.

Apple 5 percent, butter biscuit 2 percent, vanilla cream 5 percent and cinnamon 2 percent!
