Umami and Dry Hits

Dry Hits – The Roasty Flavours of Vaping

Have you ever watched cooking shows a little more closely? Homemade gravy recipes, how to grill a thick steak to perfection, or why we sear food in the first place? Stefan Marquard’s favourite word? It all comes down to the same thing.

Roasty flavours – known in the vaping world as dry hits

When it comes to food, umami can be pure gold. In vaping, dry hits are every vaper’s ultimate nightmare. They happen when the coil gets too hot and the e-liquid, residue and cotton start to scorch. Coughing, a painful burning sensation in your throat and a smell that hangs in the air for ages are the unpleasant result.

But why do we put ourselves through this?

In cooking, the next step after the perfect sear is called burnt. Does a chef give up cooking because of that? No. Just as a chef doesn’t quit their hobby or profession the moment they miss that ideal browning point, a passionate vaper doesn’t simply stop vaping after one dry hit. You just keep accepting the risk and do your best to avoid those unpleasant moments whenever possible. Because to us, it’s worth it.

The point of this post? Just a quick laugh and a bit of comfort if another dry hit has just got you.

About me -  After three years of vaping and more than two years working as a sales assistant in the Zurich and Horgen stores, it was time for a change of scenery, and somehow I ended up in the endless depths of the Dampfi office. There, among other things, I discovered an unexpected love of writing, and in future I’ll be bringing you all sorts of informative, pointless, funny, helpful and daft posts. Requests, suggestions and criticism are very welcome and can be sent to [email protected].
