Vaping for Beginners – RDAs: What They Are and How They Work

Hardcore drippers are convinced that e-liquids that taste a little underwhelming can really come alive in an RDA. Others mainly recommend drippers for trying out new juices.

That makes sense: you only need a tiny amount of e-liquid for a dripper, and the cotton is quick to swap, so you can move straight on to the next flavour. If you’re wondering what that means: drippers are always rebuildables, and as a rule they don’t have a tank. That last part isn’t always true with newer models, though, as hybrid designs already exist among drippers too. Plus, e-liquid can end up tasting completely different in a tank.

Flavour from drippers

So why do some people say even weaker e-liquids can really shine in a dripper? For one thing, it’s easy to drip a little more – not enough raspberry? Just add another two drops. Still not enough raspberry? Leave it for a day; because you’re only working with a few drops, it naturally steeps a bit faster.

Cooler vapour

Some people don’t like warm vapour, and drippers really can produce a cooler vape. Again, though, that comes down to the e-liquid. In a tank, e-liquid can heat up more easily than in a dripper, where you’re done after just a few puffs.

E-liquid lovers

If you vape several completely different e-liquids every day, tanks usually mean you need several tanks – with a dripper, you just change the cotton. That said, it doesn’t always work: if you had a really intense liquid in there before, there’s no getting around a dry burn. So you’ll need to pulse the coils in your build a little.

Many vapers also like drippers because, with a dual-coil build, you can shift the cotton around a little and get a clean e-liquid flavour again. You may even be able to rebuild a little less often. Maybe – because in the end, it really depends on the liquids you use.

And last but not least, remember: all drippers are rebuildables. Dripping can definitely be nice and relaxed in the evening in front of the TV, but having to keep dripping at work will probably get annoying over time.

You also need to be careful not to add too many drops to a dripper, otherwise things get messy. There’s already a solution for that too, though – I’ll show it to you next week.
