Hops, also known by the scientific name Humulus Ipulus, belong to the hemp family and are now native to Europe as well as Asia. Hops gained fame primarily through the brewing of beer. But also as a medicinal plant, the hop made a name for itself and in 2007 the true hop was even awarded as medicinal plant of the year. In addition, there are also traditions from ancient Egypt and Greece, which say that hops were enjoyed as a salad at that time.

The hop blossoms are said to help against stomach complaints and against loss of appetite.
